BUSTER THE DALMATIAN TALKS TO ELAINE GEWIRTZ
The multitalented, native Californian opens up to the spotted dog about her writing life.
BUSTER: I can’t see up there. What are you writing these days?
ELAINE: Health, nutrition, travel, parenting and pets.
BUSTER: What’s the most fun you had while on assignment?
ELAINE: I once fed a Koala bear while interviewing the director at the Los Angeles Zoo.
BUSTER: Where do you go when you take me to the kennel?
ELAINE: Oh, the usual. Soaring in a hot air balloon, dolphin training at Sea World, glacier walking in Alaska, and showing dogs in Bakersfield.
BUSTER: How do you like to unwind?
ELAINE: Long walks and weight-training, but throwing you the ball? Not so much.
BUSTER: What is your favorite writing tool?
ELAINE: Sticky notes. I looove sticky notes.
BUSTER: Why did you decide to have four children?
ELAINE: I didn’t want five.
BUSTER: Anything else I should know?
ELAINE: You didn’t ask me about the eleven dog books I’ve written, my B.S. from California State University, Northridge (yippee! I made the Dean’s List), or my membership in The American Society of Journalists and Authors, the Dog Writers’ Association of America and the Independent Writers of Southern California. Add to that my dozen years as a columnist for the Ventura County Star and the American Kennel Club Gazette.
BUSTER: I’m sorry Elaine, but this assignment is only 225 words.
ELAINE: No problem. We’re visiting China soon so pack your kennel bag!
